Decent burner at a reasoanble price.

I was wondering why there was a glass half way up the burning stick. Apparently it's in case there is a draft, so that the ash is captured and stays off your table or whatever the burner is on. I think that works great for as much as you can put down into the glass. But when the stick burns up past it, I guess it would be possible for a breeze to then blow that ash out of the desired area. But I think the breeze would need to be pretty vigorous.But, as it sits in my office, there's not much breeze, and it's just good to know that the burning is done safely. And even if I turn on my floor fan, and point it at the unit, the ash falls safely into the cup.If they made one in silver/chrome, I would like that one better than the bright brass/gold color. But that's just my opinion.The mountains in the bottom of the glass is a nice touch I think. Some incense sticks, like the ones that came with it, drop white ash bits, so that looks cool on the mountains.The glass sits perfectly in the wood base. The base is not high quality finished, but that's okay. For $9 that's just fine. The base sits flat on the table surface without rocking.The sticks that come with it are small ones that don't seem to have a wooden stick core like most of the ones I see in the US. They don't put out as much scent/smoke and are not as long, but that's just for your info, and I don't consider it a negative. Some sticks are just different. These are like some others that I got off an online retailer in China. I did also test the longer kind that we have in the US, and this guy handled both kinds with no problem.In summary: it's a decent burner at a reasonable price, and should be pretty safe regarding the ashes.I did deduct a star for two reasons:1. It was hard to get the main rod into the hole in the base securely. There was a tiny edge that if a person didn't see, could have made it really hard. And then it might enlarge the hole and it would not be as secure. However, if you do notice this on yours, and you angle it in the right way, then you'll be rewarded with a very firm hold. I just think some customers are going to find it hard to insert. It's not nearly as easy, at least not in my case, to insert as it is in the video.2, the clip was misaligned so that the stick would not angle down into the glass cup, but went too much to the side. I had to gently rotate it about 10 degrees or so.

Amusing Mt Fujiama Sculpture

Impressive yet somewhat comical Bamboo and Glass Incense Holder.I'm all for fun depictions of Mt. Fujiama, but this really takes the cake: the glass to catch the ashes allows the ash to fall on the impression if Mt. Fuji, which has been molded in the bottom of the glass. One might find this strangely mesmerizing; perhaps even meditative, as Mt. Fuji slowly appears. I find it comically weird.The bamboo base has been stained a deep brown; I recognize this as an imitation of the cedarwood that has since become quite rare in incense burners, due to cost and possibly rarity of the trees. It's not objectionable, but looks a little artificial, in my view. Still, it works.The stand is a little delicate, with a single wire holding an alligator clip at the top. To insert the incense stick, you have to be dextrous and careful, one false move and the structure might topple.The incense provided is interesting but it is hard to separate and identify the different scents provided. Having all been boxed together, they all smell the same. The wood used to hold the incense is very thin; if you are not careful when attaching it to the alligator clip, it will break. Sadly, I have noticed that imported incense has swayed from the thicker woods, possibly the rarity of cedar, once again.The cylinder holding the incense is pretty; but once the tape was removed the top fits very loosely. Be careful; when it fell off I almost dropped all the incense on the floor.Once all set up and burning, the set is pleasant enough. I would only burn this while being attentive; even though. The ash falls harmlessly into the glass, the whole contraption is so delicate that a cat's tail might knock it over. Be sure to place it where pets and children cannot reach it, or be prepared to shoo away curious Interlopers.The price on the two burners is certainly fair; but I would (and am going to) seek out better temple incense to burn for a more relaxed state of consciousness.

Perfect incense holder, times two.

This holder works well. It was easy to assemble. I've now replaced another similar one I have with this one due to it being more functional. The glass ash catcher is wide and textured to help guide the ash sticks to break as they fall rather than stack and tip over the edge. The wide base also means that even if the ash doesn't fall quickly, the long piece will still remain in the glass. This was my biggest complaint with my other incense holder, as some of the ash would consistently end up outside of the narrow glass collector, leaving a big mess. While the other one was more "stylish", this one has a simplistic beauty to it that emphasizes the form to function ratio. About the only thing I liked about the other one more was the clip. This one is a bit stiff and at times the stick will slide through if you dont position it just right.Bonus value for getting two of them plus some free incense. I will say that the incense that came with it does smell nice, however I found it interesting that there was really no spot on it to use the clip.
