Good unseen safety feature.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:We bought some new rugs for the kitchen area and they arrived after having been rolled up together, so they would not lay flat on the floor as a result, and were too easy to move around.  After tripping a couple of times I ordered this padded backing.The rubber material is fairly light and soft but it grips the floor really well.  I added a spray on adhesive to the back of the rugs and added the padding to them.  I then cut the padding around the edges so that it wasn't visible.  The extra weight helps to hold the edges down and the padding keeps them in place.  There is a lot of padding left over and I did the same treatment to a few others that we had.  it has been a good fix.  It took a little time to get it all done but it was inexpensive and still working.  I have not noticed any sticking or residue on the hard wood floors either.

2nd time I’ve purchased one of their rug pads. Initially a bit smelly, I unpackaged, partially unfolded, and left outside overnight and it was fine the next day. Easy to trim and great for keeping rug in place. Very thin, which I wanted, but avoid if you’re looking to add any cushioning under your rug.

The description is erroneous, the carpet pad is NOT "Extra Thick Carpet Pads", it is a thin pad! I have an extra thick pad and it is twice as thick as this pad. This is a cheap pad at a cheap price.

Keeps the cat's water bowl where I put it!

We have a bunch of cats and one of them just loves to shove the water bowl around the floor which leads to little puddles of water all over the floor. They are of course wet and frankly they pose a slipping hazard to the humans who share the space with the cats who run the house. We tried a great many things to keep the bowl in one place but nothing was really working. One day a light went off in my head as I remembered that a friend had used a rug gripper to keep her area rug from sliding around on her floor. I looked at it and thought it just might keep the water bowl in place. It does!!
