Dramatic Fan Palm: A Strong Focal-Point with Great Texture

I have tested and reviewed dozens of these artificial trees and larger plants. Hands-down, this is the most unique one to date. Its fan-shaped fronds are very large (see photo of my hand on top of one). These large sized fronds call immediate attention to the palm no matter where you place it. Mine has been on display in my living room for a week now. Yet every time I come down the stairs, my eyes are still drawn straight to that palm.If you’re looking for a focal point to help define a corner, a space, or a room, this palm will not disappoint. And the large fronds offer dramatic texture, which can really be amplified by using spot lighting to cast amazing overlapping shadows on background walls and the ceiling. See several photos of the palm in my living room under various lighting conditions. I think the photos speak for themselves.You do need to assemble this palm by inserting the stem pieces and fronds together. Then you’ll need to spend some time shaping the palm by adding some graceful arching to the individual stems to open up the foliage. This whole process will take about 20 to 30 minutes, which includes the time needed to remove all the little numbered stickers to show you which stem or frond goes where. One tip: use a thin, small, sharp knife (or an x-acto knife) to lift each sticker at an edge, then slowly and carefully peel each sticker off to avoid leaving any residue.Another tip: the fronds fully swivel on each stem. So you can point the leaves in any direction. For example, since I have my palm raised on an end table, I pointed all the fronds so the “nice” sides are facing out and none of the backs of the fronds are visible.Unlike other artificial plants/trees I have tested, this one comes in a fully cemented pot, so it’s very bottom-heavy and nearly impossible to be tipped over (for example, by rambunctious kids or pets). I also appreciate that this one comes with black polished river rock you can use to cover up the top of the cemented pot. Many others come with just a little package of dried tan moss, which really cheapens the look of those other plants/trees.If I had to find any flaw with this palm, it’s in its realism. While the old cut-off stems at the bottom are a very nice touch at mimicking a real palm, that realism is lost when all 11 frond leaves are the exact same size. There are no smaller leaves toward the top (indicative of newer growth) or any unfurled frond stems in the center (indicative of fresh growth yet to open). So I don’t think anyone will mistake this for a real palm. But, ya know what? The beauty of this palm is in its dramatic size and texture, so having all the frond leaves the same large size actually adds to that drama – even if it’s not terribly realistic. So I’m still giving this a 5-star rating.

Lush, Stunning, and Truly Transformative Licuala Palm Plant

I am absolutely in love with this 5FT Fake Licuala Fan Palm Tree! It has brought such a comforting and vibrant energy to my prayer room that I finally feel like that room is now complete.
