Arlo vs Belle Max blackout cordless blinds
I bought these blinds to darken the room for better sleep, to save on cooling and heating costs and because this brand had a very large selection of sizes. I also ordered blackout cordless blinds from Belle Max in the cool silver so I can tell you the difference between the two.These Arlo cordless blackout blinds are very nice, they are a white fabric-like material with a lined honeycomb to insulate and keep light out. I installed them in a room which hasn't been painted yet as you will see in the pics I am posting. However, I did NOT like the brackets these attach to, the brackets are not as sturdy as I would have liked. IF YOU ARE MOUNTING THEM INSIDE THE WINDOW MEASURE AND MARK THE OVAL AREA BETWEEN THE SPRINGS THEN GET A VERY SMALL DRILL BIT AND DRILL IN SO YOU CAN SCREW THE BRACKETS IN. I USED STRONGER FLAT HEADED SCREWS SO THE BULKY SCREW HEAD DOESN'T INTERFERE WHEN YOU SNAP IT IN.These do the job and look nice but honestly the Belle Max brand had a nicer top and bottom rail and the brackets were very sturdy and it was easier to install. Both are very nice but I did see complaints about the Belle Max material and I actually really like those but you can't please EVERYONE, lol.For the price, these and the Belle Max are a seriously good deal!! I priced out blinds from Walmart, JCPENNEY and online stores and just one blackout cordless blind was over $100 and in some cases almost $200…

Exactly as expected. Lightweight, easy to install, excellent quality, competitive price. I will be ordering more. Shipped quickly too.They came with a well made snap on clear handle to raise and lower. I chose the white with blackout backing. They are true white and the blackout feature is 100%. They are true to size. So they arrive exactly the width you order. Bear in mind, the bracket will take up extra space if you are side mounting. I top mounted inside my window sil.Due to metal flashing, I opted to used double sided mounting tap on the brackets rather than drilling in screws.My sil recess is very shallow, a mere 1.5" yet these still inside mounted perfect with no unsightly amount of protrusion

Happy plants and happy humans!!
If you measure right and follow the instructions to install properly, they do a fabulous job and are quite easy. I purchased the room darkening shades and they certainly do their job. Many room darkening shades I have purchased in the past will show light and these do not. They insulate exceptionally well. As a matter of fact, the sound in the room is different. All in all it makes for a much cozier space with them than without. I also purchased insulating drapes to insulate the space, but also to create a safe environment for the large window sill which holds all our plants. The cellular shades are right up against the glass of the window, the plants sit on the sill and the drapes are installed on the wall, thus keeping them warm at night but giving them access to the light in the day, allowing us to open or close the drapes for privacy or maximum sun light. I am very pleased with how well this all worked out...would purchase again in a second. Happy plants, happy humans!

Arlo shade - 2.5 years in
For the price, these are very good shades. In fact, I just bought a replacement for the one that broke. They truly are room darkening, and again, you cannot beat the price.The only concern is durability. 2.5 years after buying this, the shade would no longer retract. Looking inside at the mechanisms that assisted retraction, you have plastic pieces that guide the cords, assisted by a metal spring. Our shade was completely destroyed on the inside, with the plastic pieces having disintegrated, and no way to easily fix. Looking at the plastic mechanisms, the quality of the plastic is not great.As noted before, I have just purchased this exact shade to replace the one that broke; for the price, 2.5 years of use seems worth it to me. But for those expecting something more durable over a longer period of time, you may want to consider a more expensive option with stronger retraction hardware.

Great blackout shades, reasonable price
Bought Arlo sheer cellular shades from Home Depot months ago for the office, liked them so much wanted blackout ones for bedroom. HD was out of my sizes, so i found here. Mounting was crazy simple (2 screws), but make sure windows are deep enough. I have inside mount. Package arrived damaged (one end was chewed up and taped over, prob in transit). Top Blinds promptly shipped missing parts (end caps). Not sure how durable these blinds are, but theyre cordless and much safer for pets and kids. Very happy with the look!
