No more falling on my butt when the rug slips

There is a rug in the hallway outside my home office that has been the bane of my existence for several years. It seemed half the time I walked out of my office and made a left into the rest of the house it would move in some random direction. We have tried more than one underlayment that all claimed to keep your rugs from moving and everyone of them failed on hardwood floors. I will admit I was a bit dubious about how effective this tape would be.Application isn't difficult, you just need to make sure that it is placed exactly where you want your rug to be. Once it is placed down, it is there for good. Yes, it can be pulled up and it doesn't leave a residue behind when you do so, but once it is pulled up it can't be placed back down again. So if you get the placement wrong you're starting over with a new piece of tape. I put down strips along each of the 4 edges of the rug in question and then one down the middle. The tape is so thin that it doesn't even show through this quite thin rug. The other underlayments we have tried always had a little ridge around the edge. The rug now stays put where we want it to be and no longer has that ugly ridge. Now I need to order more for other rugs in the house that seem to want end me in the middle of the night.

Rugged and definitely “rugable”

This rug tape is about as rugged and “rugable” as it gets. Once it’s down, your rugs stay put — no sliding, bunching, or that awkward shuffle across the floor every time someone walks through the room. Great for high-traffic areas where rugs usually try to make a slow escape. The double-sided design works well. One side grips the rug firmly while the other is gentle enough on floors that you don’t feel like you’re permanently gluing your home together. It holds strong but removes cleanly, which is exactly what you want when it’s time to adjust or redecorate. No sticky residue left behind and no floor damage in my experience.Installation is straightforward: cut, place, press, done. It stays flat and keeps edges from curling, which is especially helpful if you’ve got rugs that love to turn into tripping hazards. Feels durable too — not flimsy tape that gives up after a week. Why 4 stars instead of 5? While the hold is strong, you’ll want to take your time lining everything up because once it grabs, it really grabs. Repositioning is possible but requires a little patience.Overall, this tape does exactly what it promises: keeps rugs in place, protects floors, and holds up to daily use. Tough, reliable, and truly “rugable.”

Simple Fix for Slippery Rugs on LVP

This rug tape did exactly what I needed it to do. I used it on an 8x10 area rug and only applied strips along both short ends. That was enough to stop the sliding completely. Before installing, the rug would shift all over the place. After cleaning and mopping, I let the luxury vinyl floors dry fully, then applied the tape across the full width of each short end and laid the rug back down.So far, it has held firm with normal household foot traffic. We are not sprinting laps across it, but for everyday walking it is solid. If you have kids running through the house or heavier traffic areas, you may want to apply more than I did.I intentionally started conservative since I also plan to use some on smaller rugs throughout the house. On LVP flooring, it is performing exactly as advertised. No curling, no visible edges, and no shifting.Bottom line: if you are tired of adjusting your rug every time you walk across it, this is an easy, effective solution. Install it once and move on with your life.

It works, but not so simply, requiring a bit of effort

This rug tape works as claimed. It is sort of easy to apply but you must be careful to get it exactly where you want it since it goes onto the floor first. Not that you can’t lift it and move it but it’s just not as simple as putting it on the rug first and then laying your rug down. It is not possible at all to apply this to your rug first and then lay it on the floor. You must do it by rolling back the edges of your rug. Floor must be clean. The back of your rug must be clean, too, or you’ll get some dirt from the back of your rug onto the floor as you work your way around. It doesn’t cost too much but realize it does not do a whole lot of rugs. You could do just one 5 x 8 rug. Or you could do two average size bath mats.It will not leave any residue behind. I am happy enough with the product. I do prefer rug anti-slip corner products instead. Why? Because this product requires pulling off of the floor when you want to clean your floor completely and then replacing it which seems like a bit more effort to get it in just the right place each time. I’d rather just pick up the rug and have nothing stuck to the floor, even if this doesn’t leave residue. This product really isn’t the ease of use product that I am looking to use on a regular basis. I have a lot of tile and hardwood floors along with throw rugs so this does not really work for me on a large scale basis.

works well

This Tape Genie Anti-Slip Rug Tape is a game changer! I was tired of constantly adjusting rugs that would slide around on hardwood floors, and this solved the problem instantly. Once applied, the rug stays firmly in place — no bunching, curling corners, or slipping. The adhesive is strong but not overly aggressive. It holds securely on hardwood, tile, and even vinyl, yet removes cleanly without leaving sticky residue behind. That was a huge concern for me, especially with finished floors, and it performed perfectly.Application is simple — just cut to size, press it down, and you’re done. The 1.9" width provides great coverage, and the 25FT roll gives plenty of tape for multiple rugs. It feels durable and long-lasting, not thin or flimsy like some other brands I’ve tried. This is an excellent solution for high-traffic areas, homes with kids or pets, or anywhere you want added safety and stability. Great quality, great value, and it truly delivers on its promises. Highly recommend!

Poorly made product

Way too hard to get the backing off. Tears off in pieces. Extremely thin tape. Doesn't adhere as good as it should. Going to be a better product now.
