A wonderful and unusual tribute to six years pf marriage..

Gorgeous!
I love this little statuette. Usually I’m very much a Willow Tree-esque person; I really love the anonymity that figures like that present and I typically don’t utilize statues or figurines of people – I’m weird about art that contains human beings in it, but have been able to find a good compromise in Willow tree figurines and those that look similar to them. That’s probably why this one was not something. I turned my nose up at – the anonymity is so present, there’s a lot of emotion evoked under the right circumstances , but it’s not done in a way that forces it- it doesn’t demand solemnity or reverence or anything like that. One can certainly go in that direction when looking at it- but anytime I add a piece of art to the house, I try to ensure that the intended idea is expressed, but in an open ended way that is more of an invitation and isn’t something that feels forced upon or required of the person taking it in.This piece has some weight to it. It’s not overly heavy or anything, but it’s definitely substantial- it’s no cheap plastic piece. I do love that there is some anonymity to it so that whoever is looking at it can sort of imagine the faces that it makes them think of. I originally got it for our bedroom, but I got so many compliments on it anytime anybody would walk in there that I decided to just go ahead and put it on display so that you didn’t have to come into my bedroom to see it. It’s not on a console table near our front door- I decided to play up the silhouette of it with a salt lamp while I’m still working on that area, I think it looks beautiful there. As I mentioned, it does take me a bit of convincing to grab any artwork of any kind outside of photography that has people in it– which is ironic because I love portraiture and bringing out the relationships between and emotions that shine through in people when I’m shooting- so I have a high bar to meet, but I really adore this piece. It’s beautiful and does inspire emotion but without too much frill. My husband really loves it too, and he isn’t typically a fan of figurines or statuettes, so it’s a win!
