This is a review for the Allesin Zen Cordless Roman Shade for Windows, Blackout and Thermally Insulated Easy No Drill No Tools Install, Linen Fabric, Fits Bedroom, 27" W x 64" H, WhiteAll 13 downstairs, 35” wide windows in my newly renovated, 100 year old, second home cottage have pull down, white linen Roman shades for a clean, modern aesthetic. They are also cordless and thermally insulated which helps with the heating and cooling. However, there is one window in the original pantry, which when I ordered and installed all the other shades, couldn’t be fitted. The company didn’t have a matching shade in a 27” width, so that window has a double rodded sheer cafe curtain. When I saw this cordless shade from Allesin in my size, I ordered it to see if it was a match to mine. It comes close, but I wouldn’t call the fabric true white, nor is the weave linen like though it is woven. It is a slightly grayed warm white; a finely speckled and tight small weave manmade fiber type fabric. The fabric surface is softer than linen, and gets its body from being bound to the heavier blackout fabric with a white backing, enough to drape softly. I was somewhat disappointed that the description was off by calling it linen. A more accurate description would be “a fine weave, linen-like poly-blend. What I expected from the listing was for a closer match to my existing cloud white, cotton-linen blend shades, no off-white, slightly grayed in a super fine linen-weave.. Since my window is in a separate room with no proximity to my whiter, true linen textured shades, it probably won’t be so noticeable, so I’m giving this shade a try.I have yet to install the shade as I won’t be returning to my second home for another few weeks. I have tried out all the features here, and see it will be a quick and easy mounting process. The raising and lowering mechanisms are sturdy and smooth. Since I have leftover mounting hardware, should the tension rod aspect not work securely, I can use my hardware to permanently install the shade.Since the Roman plastic ring and cord system is not hidden (by placing it between the shade’s fabric and a white lining) the way some similar shades are constructed, expect the back of this shade to look like an old school Roman shade, with strings and rings visible on the back. It’s not horrible, but it does cheapen the look compared to the new style hidden workings. That fact, and the non-linen like poly fabric makes the $50.00 price seem slightly higher than I would expect. For those reasons, I’d rate this as 4 stars. I have included some photos detailing the fabric and the back of the shade so your expectations are more accurate for this product, as well as others now on the market.

I got this shade in light grey and it stains real easy from simply being touched with dry hands. I also followed the measurement instructions to ensure the proper fit and it was 1/4” too small, no problem since additional pads were included to install where the tension rod met the wall. However, I’ve had this up for over a month now and it was fallen a handful of times. I ended up putting mounting putty under the contact points to help with stability and has been fine since. Overall it’s a fine product. Simple to put up and operate. Rolls up and down smoothly. Filters out light well enough. The stitching is sloppy and velcro is applied unevenly, but you get what you pay for. 3/5 stars because it gets the job done but too much of an inconvenience for me to bother with another.
