Love it. Sturdy for the vacuum.

I like the convenience of washable rugs, but my routine maintenance needs to be with a vacuum cleaner. I needed a rug that can stand up to my powerful canister vac. Fortunately, this one was a great choice. It has a sturdy back and a weight that allows it to lie flat while I vacuum. It is soft and plush underfoot, and is warmer in winter.The rug was rolled up, which is just fine, but that means it needs some coaxing to lie completely flat, and the inner edge in particular was fairly tightly curled. That was fine for me, since in my tiny space (an efficiency apartment) one end of the rug needs to lie under some heavy furniture. That held it down, and I set some heavy objects like a laundry detergent bottle on the other end and in less than 24 hours it had relaxed to lie flat without needing anything set upon it. I assume that even the tightly rolled side of the rug is going to be flat when I next check it.If you put your nose right up to it there is a bit of a new carpet smell, but it is not otherwise noticeable to me. It would be normal for a new carpet to offgas a bit. Airing the house sufficiently with open windows would be good but it's winter here and very cold. Anyway I am not bothered.This is of course not a high-end rug but it's a solidly middle-class rug that looks great and offers comfort for a good value. It has immediately made my little space, in which I've lived intensively on the cheap carpeting for twenty years, immediately more pleasant and cozy. The vintage look works very well in the old fashioned aesthetic of my book and knickknack filled space. I am a little concerned about getting it dirty but I'm being more careful about my snow boots and of course the pattern should camouflage stains a bit.I am really enjoying this rug, it was very needed and to me it is a bit of a luxury.

A nice feeling, decent rug, but has offgassing issues

Update: It's been a week and the rug STILL smells funny. I'm used to off gassing, but this is ridiculous. As I went back into the item to update this review, I noticed that it is also now $70! At $70, I would not purchase this rug. Due to the lingering chemical smell, I have dropped my review to 4 stars. Highly recommend leaving it outside a couple days if weather permits.Here's the summary in case reading ain't your forte: if you like the design and need a 4x6 rug, you can't beat this price!I didn't know what to expect from a $20 rug that looks that nice in the picture. Okay, I did, cheap cr*p. When I opened it, I knew that wasn't the case here!This rug has a bit of heft, so you can tell it's a decent quakity before even unrolling it. I had to weigh down the corners and it flattened out quickly. The size is spot on and good for a smaller area or accenting one aprt of a larger room.The color and design matches the listing picture well. It had a very mild odor that disippated quickly. It feels soft and has some thickness to it. It's not the plushest rug, but washable $20 rugs aren't going to be the most plush ever.For the price, the quality is absolutely amazing. This rug came rolled up, not folded, so there are no deep creases or wrinkles. When I unrolled it, I said, "Oh, so pretty!". It is a soft muted color that would be suitable for any color scheme. It is a sturdy rug which stays put on the floor. It is soft enough for children or pets to enjoy sitting on. I have mine in the kitchen area, as it will be easy to vacuum or spot clean. I will enjoy this rug for many years to come and would recommend it to anyone.
