Make Everyday a Special Occasion with Floating Candles in Glass Vases

The set arrives well packaged with each of the 9 glass vases individually bubble wrapped and boxed for protection. The 14 floating battery-operated candles are also boxed, while the artificial diamonds (or ice, if you like) and the wired golden beads are in plastic bags. The artificial flowers are bundled together but not bagged or boxed. That said, the flowers were well shaped and not crushed. No instructions or literature is included at all. What I like about this set is that it gives you the liberty to experiment and try different things with it. The candles do indeed float on top of water and they are only lit when in the water. Once you remove them from the water, they go off. This is because underneath each candle are two leads and since water is conductive, the water completes the circuit and they light up. Once removed from the water, the circuit is broken and thus they turn off. With what is included, you can make some rather pretty displays using the decorative elements and water with the floating candles. Or you can just use the vase with flowers (artificial or real) if you like and you can add the artificial diamonds (or crystals or ice, whatever) and have something that adds to your decor. That is what I did with the bundled artificial flowers, I used one of the tall vases with the artificial diamonds. I like how the artificial diamonds look with sunlight hitting them, so I placed it in a window. You don't have to keep the flowers bundled, you can separate them and use each stem in a different vase. I haven't decided if I will do that yet myself or keep them together in one vase.Overall, I am pleased with the set. As I mentioned, I like the diversity and the ability to use what is included in different ways as well as incorporating other elements of your own to add to achieve the look and appearance you like. That said, there were a few disappointments. Candles light up as a steady light. They do not flicker like a real flame or candle would do. As I mentioned earlier, the decorative elements come in plastic bags, but they are not resealable. So if you are going to use this set only for certain occasions and you would like to store everything away when you are not using it, there is no way to put the 900 pieces of small artificial diamonds or the 250 larger ones (I didn't count them, by the way). So at this price point, it would have been nice to have these elements in resealable bags. I will replace them with my own resealable bags to store away. Also, as I mentioned, no instructions or literature are included. I know eventually, the batteries in the floating candles will need to be replaced. There are no instructions telling you how to do it. I saw that you can unscrew the bottom of the candle by turning it counter-clockwise. It is tightly screwed closed (they need to be waterproof) though, so it can be a little bit of a struggle to unscrew it open. Once open, you will see that it uses as I suspected, a CR2032 battery. One side of the holder holding the battery is a metal tab. If you use a toothpick, you can use that side with the tab to push the battery out. Then you can replace the battery with another CR2032 battery. The positive (+) side goes down. Then just screw it back together and be sure to screw it all the way to make it water tight.Again, a good candle/vase set here. A fairly good value except for what I mentioned above which I thought would be a given for the price point (such as not including resealable storage bags and no instructions about replacing the batteries in the candles).
