Very thin but silky rug that will hide future stains

First off, I ordered this item almost by accident. I wasn’t sure about the camouflage pattern and didn’t think it would fit in our cluttered, non-designer-style home. But the order had already gone through the system, so there was nothing I could do.When it arrived, I initially didn’t like the pattern at all -as I imagined- and regretted placing the order. (We receive items for free, but they’re considered income (full price), so it does matter if I like the item or not.)After a few days, though, it grew on me - actually, it grew on me a lot. Now I love it.What I like about the rug is that it has a slip-resistant backing, which works really well on our shiny tiled floor. The rug is very thin, which I knew before ordering, so that doesn’t affect my rating. The camouflage pattern, which I initially thought I wouldn’t care for, actually feels fine under our small dining table -it camouflages well, after all- , and I’m confident it will hide future coffee stains very well.The texture is velvety, silky, and surprisingly soft for such a thin rug. I even find myself intentionally stepping on it to avoid our cold tiled floor (it’s been a very cold winter this year).In the end, I absolutely love this rug. Would I prefer another pattern if given the chance? Maybe, maybe not. The pattern would probably look better in a modern, uncluttered, well-decorated home, and my house isn’t that - but I consider this a good buy. I also saw similar rugs at a local store for a higher price than this one: $50 ($40 with coupon) for a 5x7.

Well-constructed rug that is a little boring

A good rug needs to meet two very different sets of challenges. The first set are all the physical things that a rug has to do: lie flat on the floor without curling, stay in one place without sliding, feel good when walked on, and remain resilient after all that foot traffic. The second set of challenges are all aesthetic. Does it look good? Does it match the decor of your room? Will visitors be impressed?For this rug, I find that the first set of challenges is met very well. The rug has enough mass to lay flat on the floor without curling. The bottom has a rubbery face that clings to the floor so that it doesn't slip. The material is very low nap but feels nice. Being washable, it should be durable over time.As for the second challenge, not so much. Mine is the mottled brown and gray pattern that perhaps is simply meant to blend into the background and not be noticed. It can probably achieve that just fine. If you want something that is pretty or pulls the eye or brings a room together, this probably isn't it. It reminds me a bit of the bottom interior of a lap drawer on an old desk - years of pencil shavings, decomposing rubber bands, and spilled drinks that seeped into the drawer leave the panel mottled and uninteresting.But aesthetics are entirely subjective and you might find this really lovely. It certainly does all the other rug things great. The one I am reviewing is 8x10 and it is large enough to go under furniture and really center a room.

excellent OEKO-TEX rug

Excellent rug. Usually the washable rugs end up just a bit too thin, but this is right where it should be. Still has a nice pile height (you can actually see my slipper footprints) without being too bulky. This will probably just barely fit in a large washing machine and drying is going to be a whole other thing, but it is doable. Hang dry over a fence would probably be your best bet.I've been moving more toward OEKO-TEX whenever possible. It's important for my clothes, yes, but I hadn't even considered a carpet until seeing this. I typically have a barrier between me and the carpet, but my dogs don't. And I sometimes sit on the floor, too, hands and legs on the floor. My skin requires OEKO-TEX to avoid certain chemicals for allergies so it's nice to know that I'll be fine on the floor (and if that means less chemicals for my dogs too then no harm). OEKO-TEX in general is just a better practice overall, so I like being able to support it where possible.Colorwise, I wasn't sure about this color (dark brown) based on the pictures, but it looks better in person. There's some faint splotches of blue in there as well that add some nice depth and pull together the darker greys and blacks of the room. It's made my office much cozier.

Soft, Washable, Antislip

This rug has an anti-slip backing and it is machine washable. The material is a soft, synthetic short fiber that is warm under foot. I am using this in my basement since it is synthetic and can handle a slightly damp space. The fact that it is machine washable is a major bonus. The color is primarily brown, but there are grays and tans in the pattern as well. This is truly a neutral color and will work great in a high traffic area since small marks won’t show visibly. Overall, for the price you get a fairly large area rug that is easy to maintain.
