Gorgeous, Deeply-Colored, Traditional Rug That’s Washable

We live in an older home with wide central hallways that function as rooms. I bought the Clemile rug in Crimson Red to pull together a reading nook in our upstairs hall; the 5 X 7 rug helps define the area in the long space. We originally had a hand-knotted rug in the same place but elderly pets made that untenable. All we could find locally were light-colored contemporary designs so I was delighted to discover this dupe of an antique rug that is washable.For those not familiar with washable rugs, this rug is quite thin compared to a traditional knotted rug which is what allows it to be laundered in a home washing machine. And the design is printed on it, not woven into the pile. As a result, the design is not as defined as a woven rug; it has a vintage look that resembles a gently loved antique rug which I find appealing. The rug has a velour texture that feels wonderful underfoot, like walking on flannel. I have found that it’s best laundered on the “waterproof” cycle of our top-load HE washing machine with cold water and then air-dried although its washing instructions indicate that it can go in the dryer on low heat. The pile and design remain intact with no shedding after washing.The Clemile rug came folded inside of a plastic bag and due to the dark red color, the creases were extremely visible initially compared to a lighter rug but they are slowly disappearing. The edges are securely whipstitched with no loose threads and the reverse side is coated in a non-slip rubbery backing which really does keep the rug in place. The Crimson Red color is not what I’d characterize as crimson, it more closely resembles maroon or puce, a common color in antique rugs. The geometric pattern is similar to a Persian tribal design and the muted colors mimic natural dyes perfectly. This rug could easily work with many decorating styles from lodge, to farmhouse, to traditional or even contemporary; it’s a great anchor for a room or space.We are very happy with this deeply-colored rug; it’s a good value for the price and it fits our aesthetic. This washable rug has made it possible to keep a comfortable and tidy home while living with elderly pets. We recommend the Clemile rug to others wanting the look of a dark antique rug in a washable form.

This is a print of a Rug on super thin material

This is not a rug.It’s a picture of a rug printed on a fuzzy material.It is so thin it gives no cushion to sit or lean onIt is about the thickness of a very cheap and thin beach blanketIt could definitely play the part of a rug in a picture shoot and it does have a nonslip backing, and it doesn’t look particularly bad, but it doesn’t really have the texture of a carpet. It’s just printed on. Felt with rubber in the backing. In a photo it looks decent and it is very inexpensive but if you’re looking for something in a nice part of your house, this is probably not it.

The softest area rug I've ever walked on!

This rug just keeps surprising me. When it first arrived, I was disappointed to see it was folded up in a small box. Folding a rug always means creases that seem to be permanent. In my mind, 1 star gone already. Then, when I took it out of the box, I was even more disappointed to find how thin it was. I thought - this will never stay flat or in place. Another star gone.I have never been so wrong! While there is still a crease in the rug after having been down for a couple of weeks, most of them have gone. Given the thickness, once I wash the rug, I'm certain any remaining creases will disappear. But does it stay in place? YES! I couldn't believe it, but this rug hasn't moved, hasn't curled up, any of the bad things that ran through my mind when I opened the box. But the truly amazing thing about this rug - the softness! Once I walked on this rug with bare feet, any doubts I had went out the door. Other details - the printing is pretty solid and the rug seems like it will hold up over time.I did deduct one star because I ordered the Brown/Gray, but the lighter brown which is a significant portion of the rug, reads little on the pink side. It isn't a dealbreaker by any means, and I would definitely recommend this rug.
