Soft, fuzzy and perfect.

I will start by saying I have the worst floors on earth. I have the original hardwood floors that are unfinished and in very bad condition. This rug is the perfect size for in front of my couch in my living room. It covers the majority of the worn out scratched up saggy boards. Leaving the edges with the better wood open and viewable. I like being able to sit on my couch and have bare feet - no socks and not get slivers but even better be able to slide my feet across the fuzzy and almost silky feeling rug. It seems to stay put without any help. The color is perfect for my black and gray decor. When I opened the rug. I was a little skeptical. It came folded up and I thought it would be all creas-ey and not lay smooth. I was wrong. I opened it up and put it on the floor and it seemed to immediately settle with no crease bumps. I have 5 cats that really prefer to lay on my little scatter rugs than on the floor but when they wrestle and are throwing each other around - I swear the thuds made me worry for them. This isn't the thickest rrug but it is soft. You should have seen them when I put the rug down. They were walking on it all tentatively at first and then my brave little Oliver checked it out and he seriously flopped over and started rolling around and stretching out and grabbing at the other cats to play. He pulled the toys out of his toy box and was playing with them on the rug. And the wrestling cats thuds are much softer and they seem to enjoy being able to wrestle on the soft rug. Now that the rug has been down for about a week. I can come home from work and will find 2 or more cats just laying on the rug rather than the couch or their tree. So I love the color, the silky feel, the staying put of the rug and look. My cats love the texture and feel and softness and their new play area. This rug does say washable but the size of this will not be easily put in my washing machine so I would have to take it the laundry mat for the xl washers or I might even be able to take it to my dads house to wash because he has a large washer. It isn't overly thick and it doesn't have that ucky white rubber back that peels off after washing so I think that it would probably wash up pretty well. That I cannot comment on at this time.

Beyond soft

The shag is dense and long (about 1" or 2.5cm) with a thin padding layer on the bottom. Soft does not describe this adequately, I'd say luxurious would be a better description of how it feels. It'd make an excellent blanket if it wasn't for the padding layer keeping it stiff.It came vacuum sealed and initially had creases, but they quickly disappeared on their own within an hour after laying it out flat. It lays down flat and level on its own and has some grips on the bottom to stop it from sliding. I have it on carpet and it doesn't move anywhere. The rug itself is a little slippery to walk on in socks or slippers, something about the loose shag makes it easy to slide. It doesn't seem to be an issue with bare feet. I don't think it's dangerous, but I have a foot stool on it that likes to slide away from me.The color is a dark rich black, but not uniform since it gets wavy highlights from the long shag going in different directions, like messy hair.Cleaning shaggy rugs is always the biggest issue as they don't work well with vacuums, but this one says it's safe for the washing machine. I'll update the review after washing it, but if it works then that'd make cleaning it simple. It says you can vacuum it but I have a feeling this would stick to the vacuum.

Light weight and a bit slipery

I wanted to like this, but the quality feels cheap. The backing does not keep it in place on floors with smooth surfaces and the type of material the shag is made of it a bit slippery when walking on it. It feels very cheap and light, time will tell if it holds up to a few wash cycles.
