You are paying a little over $30 for a big piece of felt. That may seem a little odd, but once you put it under one of those thin machine washable area rugs, It makes quite a difference!I have 5X7 area rug in my living room that I absolutely love. It looks great and is nice and soft. The only thing it was lacking was a bit of cushion to it. Once I place this felt pad underneath it, not only did the rug and the felt stay in place on my hardwood floor, but there is extra depth and squishiness to the rug. I now enjoy the rug even more than I did before.The felt is exactly as you would expect. It's quarter of an inch thick or so and gray. It's perfectly 5X7 and fits under the same size rug just fine. No need to trim at all. I have not had a need to clean it yet so I'm not sure how easy it is to clean. I would assume it would clean up just as easy as anything else that's made of felt. The fabric itself is nice and tight and does not have any material coming off of it in ways you would not want. There are no flyaways or strings. One of the great things about it is that if you decide to get rid of the rug that it is under, you can always trim it to fit a different rug. As long as you are going down in size, it is very reusable and repurposable.Overall, this fit my needs perfectly and I am very happy with it. The price isn't too high so I could see myself buying it again in the future if I needed it.

I put this rug pad under a thin, washable rug on a hard floor. This adds a nice layer of cushioning under the rug. The padding makes the rug a much cozier place for my kids to play. It has a nonslip backing which keeps it in place.Note that the rug pad is 5x7 feet, so even though they advise in the description that it be a couple inches smaller than the rug, it does not arrive ready to use if you have a standard 5x7 rug. You will need to cut it down a couple of inches along two sides.My rug pad arrived slightly uneven. It is about half an inch longer on one side than the other. Because it had to be cut anyways, this was only an inconvenience and not a dealbreaker. It did mean that I needed to mark a ninety degree angle at the corners before cutting to ensure I got it right.The unevenness combined with a moderate chemically odor are the reason for the lost star. I should have aired it out outside for a few days but the weather where I live did not allow me to do so. The smell dissipated quickly. I just hate to think what my family was breathing in.
