The rug itself has a very low pile, but is an almost velvety softness. it is a little difficult to vacuumed this texture if it is places over existing carpeting, but i have had more successful vacuuming with the rug on hardwood floors. (the vacuum will sorta seal itself to the rug and pick the whole thing up as you pass if back and forth.) This issue persist even if you follow the enclosed vacuuming instructions.
