Faux Potted Cedar Trees

I ordered this set of two 5 foot artificial cypress trees to put on my front porch on either side of the door.Each tree comes in a black pot with a heavy, weighted base. The trunk and branches are plastic with hinged sections that fold down similar to an older christmas tree. I spread and shaped the branches to fill in gaps and give them a fuller look and from a distance they look very real. Up close the texture is more obviously fake, but many of my visitors just aren't paying that much attention and were surprised to learn that they were fake.The pots are stable on a flat surface and I don't worry about them getting blown about by gusty winds. I placed them in decorative planters so they'd match my colors, and the greenery itself is a very nice and realistic color.They have been outside on my covered porch through windy storms and rain and I haven't seen any shedding. I can't say whether they'll fade in the sun or how quickly, but in the summer the front porch gets a ton so I'll probably move them to the (covered) back porch then.For entryway use, the height and slim profile work well on either side of the door without blocking the walkway while giving that classic look. I do think the $130 price tag is pretty high, but if they last a decade they'll be well worth it.

I purchased this set of 5 ft artificial cypress trees to use for my entryway, and overall, they’re a decent option if you want something low-maintenance with a realistic look.The first thing I noticed (in a good way) is the pots. The bases are impressively heavy, which really helps keep the trees from tipping over. That alone makes them feel more high-end than some other faux trees I’ve tried, although they will need different pots for decorative purposes.Appearance-wise, they look pretty real from afar, especially once placed on a porch or patio where you’re not staring at them up close. However, I personally don’t love them enough to use them year-round for decorating. For my home, they’ll be better as seasonal/holiday accents rather than permanent greenery.My biggest issue is that the packaging caused the tops to droop, and I haven’t been able to get them to straighten back up. I’ve tried adjusting and fluffing them, but the top sections still have a slightly bent, limp look that detracts from the overall shape.If you want sturdy faux trees with heavy bases and a realistic look at a distance, these will work. Just be prepared to deal with possible shaping issues from shipping.

Great set for an entryway, realistic look, and the pots feel steady

I ordered this set of two because I wanted that tall, tidy “entryway tree” look without the real plant pains. These are a good option if you want instant structure on a porch or by a front door.They look realistically full once you fluff them. Out of the box they’re compressed, so don’t judge them until you’ve shaped the branches. The hinged branches make that easy. You just bend and fan everything out until it looks natural. After a few minutes, they stop looking like shipping tubes and start looking like actual cypress/cedar topiaries.The pots are the unsung hero. They have a concrete feel to them (not a featherweight nursery pot), so they’re more stable than a lot of faux trees. That matters if you’ve got wind, pets, or kids barreling around.Stuff I like:Height - 5 feet is perfect for framing a door or filling an empty corner.Fullness - Looks dense once shaped.Stability - The base feels sturdy and less tippy than most.Stuff to know:You may still want to drop the pots into larger planters for a more finished look, but you don’t have to.If they’re going outside full time, I’d still place them where they’re somewhat protected. UV resistant helps, but sun is a relentless little beast.Overall, this set gives you that clean evergreen look year round with basically zero effort. Perfect porch upgrade.

Not Bad, Not Great — Expectations Were Higher

These trees are okay. I don’t love them, and I don’t hate them—they’re just fine.The listing definitely makes them look much fuller than they are in real life. Even after fluffing and spreading out the branches, you’re left with two options: either a wider, more spread-out tree where you can clearly see the wrapped center trunk, or a very skinny tree. Neither version really matches the listing photos.Once you start adjusting the branches, the centerpiece becomes exposed. It’s wrapped in a material that looks like wicker at first glance, but up close it almost reads as copper-toned, and that color difference is noticeable, at least to me. From a distance, they look a bit more believable, but up close it’s very obvious that they’re fake.Another downside is that there’s no locking system for the trunk. If you pick it up from the top, the upper portion can completely pull off since it isn’t secured. I may end up gluing it myself in the future. While the base is fairly heavy, living in Florida makes me concerned that strong wind could knock it over, and without a locking mechanism, it could easily come apart if that happens.For the price, I expected a denser, more polished tree. I don’t think these are amazing, but I also don’t think they’re terrible—they’re just somewhere in the middle.
