a lovely propagation station set!
this glass propagation station set is awesome. The glass is durable but lightweight, sizeable for propagating. I like the cork tops that keep the plant upright and the bottom coasters. Overall at the lovely look and easy to clean when not using. The smaller ones can fit inside the big one and if not using for plants, you have endless options for decor! Would recommend

Perfectly Sized and Oh So Pretty!
For those of us who crave gardening during the cold long winter months, this set of 4 glass plant propagation jars is a win! While the product description indicates use with specific types of plants, they are so much more versatile. My first set of "plants" were actually the ends of scallions. It's also good for components of flower bouquets that can be coaxed to create new plants such as the succulent pictured which was rescued from an expired cut flower arrangement. The glass jars are a good size for a wide range of plants - accommodating larger course roots as well as delicate petite roots. Each glass jar comes with a bamboo base (kind of like a saucer to protect your surfaces only with an aesthetic bonus!) and a cork topper with a hole. The holes on both the large and small jars are the same size. Because the parts are all separate, the glass jars are easily cleaned either by hand or in the dishwasher. Additionally, the jars can be used with or without the cork tops. For example I placed the succulent on top of the glass jar without its cork topper in one photo, and use the cork topper to keep the scallions upright in the other. The holes are sufficient for most clippings. One of the plants I plan to try rooting is my African Violet. This typically requires some kind of holder so that the leaf does not become submerged in water. Only the stem should be wet. The holes on the cork tops appear to be the right size to hold 2 African Violet leaves out of the water, as long as the stems are long enough to reach the water's surface inside the jar.Beyond using these propagation jars at home, they could be a good addition to a classroom with appropriate supervision due to the glass components, or a fun project at home with kids. One of the trickier life science concepts we teach young learners is how the roots develop on growing plants. These propagation jars provide the perfect window into this natural phenomenon and also stimulate inquiry (Why can some plants grown without soil?) which can lead to additional questions about and studies of air plants as well.Bottom line? I really like these propagation jars and intend to make good use of them as the winter weather lingers in my region. They are good quality, attractive, versatile, and a great value!
