Burns, looks, and feels like a standard paraffin wax candle.

It looks and feels exactly like your standard paraffin wax. The wick does not contain any metal. It burns clean, and when you blow it out, it releases white smoke. Even though it's unscented, if you have a good nose, you can smell the paraffin which gives off a slight petroleum smell; the smoke especially carries the scent of petroleum. The candles have tiny flaws in them -- some cracks and tiny dents -- which I find odd. And despite it saying the candles are 2 inches in diameter, they're actually 1.91 inches (exactly 6 inches circumference divided by pi). It's a relatively minor thing, but the surface flaws and the slightly narrower dimensions are why I took off a star from what would have otherwise been a 5-star rating.

Simple and elegant—perfect for the mantle

The ivory color is a true "creamy" ivory—not that weird yellowish tint you sometimes see with cheaper wax. They are made of paraffin, and while some people prefer soy, I find these pillars hold their shape much better and don't "tunnel" as badly if you trim the wick right. They claim to be dripless and smokeless, and so far, that’s held true. I’ve burned the medium one for about 4 hours straight during a Sunday dinner, and there wasn't a mess of wax running down the side or any black soot marks on the wall behind it. One thing to keep in mind is that they are totally unscented. That’s actually a plus for me because with a family of five and a dog, the last thing I need is a heavy artificial scent clashing with dinner smells or making someone sneeze. They arrived well-packed with no chips or dents, which is always a gamble with wax. If you’re looking for a solid, no-nonsense set of candles for home decor or even a wedding, these are a great value. They just work, and they look way more expensive than they actually are.

Very crumbly candles

The 2 smaller candles arrived with flakes all over, the biggest candle was broken in half. Overall, I am not satisfied with these candles and would not buy again. I left 2 stars because the other 2 candles were still mostly intact, they had small sections missing, but still usable.
