This review is for the “Double Lotus” (purple) Fake Bougainvillea Artificial Flowers for Outdoors, sold in a pack of two for $19.98 at the time of my order.I lived for years in an environment unsuitable for flowering plants year-round and always thought it would be a great idea to display artificial plants outdoors. However, for a long time, nearly every available option warned against outdoor use. Then, only a few years ago, I started seeing advertisements for UV-resistant options and have since acquired a few. In doing so, I’ve learned that “UV resistant” does not mean “UV proof,” and in my experience, some do fade over time. The two stems included with this set are labeled UV Resistant and are deeply colored, so I expect any fading will be easy to spot. Only time will tell. I do plan to use these outdoors in full sun and have high hopes.The stems are impressive in their fullness, with cascading vines in various lengths that contribute to a realistic look. As with others I’ve acquired, however, one doesn’t need to look too closely to see they are artificial. The stems and vines are a mix of lighter and darker green, all very clearly plastic. The bougainvillea flower petals are realistic-looking—delicate and plentiful—but this also highlights one of the common challenges with artificial flowering plants. Due to packing and shipping, the petals and leaves are, in most cases, bent and folded. This is a characteristic of many products made from malleable plastic and fabric-like “silk,” and these are no different. Some petals have folds and bends that are difficult, if not impossible, to fully straighten. I also tried submerging the stems in water and hanging them upside down to see if the petals would dry flatter, but that approach did not work.The benefit of this particular product is that each stem is very full, so the sheer quantity of petals makes individual imperfections less noticeable. Viewed from a distance, the vibrant color and overall appearance distract from the fact that they are artificial. The coloring is rich, and the cascading vines are attractively and realistically designed.
These are really vibrant in color and are beautiful. They do have a bit of an odor from packaging, if planning to use indoors may want to rinse off by dunking in bucket of warm water, shaking off excess water and let air dry on a towel. I took a picture of just one stem so can see difference in case you have 2 pots, like I do. Will need 2 stems to one pot to look really full, unless combining with other flowers then can get away with one in each pot. In 2nd picture I used both and looks fuller with both. These are silk. If planning to use outdoors not sure how colorfast they will stay with direct sunlight, says they are UV resistant but I do not have time to test, but color will probably last longer if on a covered porch/patio.
