Not good for real small windows

I bought these specifically because the window on my door is 26 inches. I used one of the long and one short bar. The short bar is so much smaller than large bars there is a big gap (see pic). It wouldn't stay at length i needed. There was no ring to put on end to hold it in place. I had to tape it. I kept the rods because it is hard to find ones this short that look decent. Otherwise they look great and seem pretty sturdy.
