Full, Bright Faux Mums That Make a Planter Look “Done”

Pros:• 12 stems is enough to fill a couple planters or one big one• Colors look bold and cheerful from a few feet away• Stems are flexible, so you can shape them to look fuller• No watering or cleanup, and they stay looking neat• Worked well in outdoor planters and hanging basketsConsider:• Need a quick fluff/reshape out of the package• In strong wind, you may want to anchor them with foam or rocksI used these faux mums to freshen up a couple outdoor planters that were looking sad. I wanted color that stays put, especially for spots that get a lot of sun. These bundles made it easy to get a full, finished look without needing a ton of individual stems. I had a meeting and wanted some cheer to inspire folks as they walked in.Appearance and realismFrom normal porch distance, they look great - bright, tidy, and very “seasonal.” The mum shape is full, so you get a lot of visual impact. Up close you can tell they’re artificial, but the petals are layered enough that they don’t look flat.Arrangement and setupRight out of the bag, they need a minute of fluffing. I spread the stems, bent a few outward, and rotated the bundles so the blooms weren’t all facing the same direction. After that, they filled space nicely. The instructions suggest using a blow dryer to heat them up to facilitate arranging them. I felt no need to go that far.For deeper pots, I used a little filler underneath (foam block/empty nursery pots) so the flowers sit higher. That made them look more natural and kept the stems from disappearing into the planter.Indoor vs. outdoor useI’ve used them outdoors and they’ve held their shape well in normal weather. In a hanging basket, they look especially nice because the greenery and blooms drape a bit once you shape them. If you get strong wind, anchoring them helps keep them from shifting.Durability so farThe stems feel sturdy enough to rearrange without snapping, and the blooms stayed attached while I was bending and positioning them. They’ve stayed looking clean and full after being outside.Overall: A quick way to add reliable color to planters and baskets. They look full, shape easily, and give that “finished planter” look with very little effort.

Low Effort Porch Color

I received these artificial flowers from Amazon, sold by the Florskye store, and they showed up right when I was staring out at my porch thinking everything looked a little too… February. I’m always on the lookout for something that adds color without adding more work, especially this time of year when real planting is still more wishful thinking than reality.Out of the box, I notice the colors first. The mix of dark purple, light purple, red, rose, yellow, and pink actually looks lively without going over the top, and once I fluffed them out a bit they filled a medium sized planter nicely and didn’t have a faux plants look. The eucalyptus leaves really break things up, and it looks exactly like a planting I would have put together in the spring anyway! The flowers themselves look more like small petunia-style blooms than anything else which honestly works better for the look I was going for.One of the bigger wins for me is placement. I have a planter spot on my porch that gets basically no sunlight, it’s one of those areas where only ferns thrive, so I this there already and it looks finished instead of forgotten. They add a nice pop of color in a space that usually feels dull, and from any normal distance they look real enough that I don’t think twice about it unless I’m right up next to them.I had a moment yesterday where I was out there adjusting them, still cold out, still very much winter, and I realized I was spending time arranging flowers that don’t need anything from me which is kind of the appeal in one long thought that made me laugh a little.The materials feel decent for outdoor use, not overly stiff but not flimsy either, and I like that I don’t have to think about watering or replacing them after a stretch of bad weather. The stems are flexible enough to shape how I want, and once I set them they hold their position well.For me this is a simple upgrade where I get the look of a full planter without the timing, watering, or seasonal

Bright colors. Looks realistic from afar. More of a Calibrachoa rather than a mum.

These are advertised as mums but they are not mum shape. These look more close to a calibrachoa or small petunia. Not a negative thing but be aware, they are not mums which are typically used for fall decorating. These are a summer flower.That being said, the flowers are very pretty. Right out of the package they are a bit squished but if you unpackage them, spread the stems out and let them sit for a couple of days, they will perk up. The colors are vibrant and the flowers look very realistic from afar. Up close they are definitely fake with plastic leaves and unnatural black veining in the flowers. The effect however of the veining makes the colors look more realistic when you take a step back and not cartoonish in color like many artificial flowers. I am worried about how these will hold up in the high winds I get in Kansas. I did find that some stems and flowers would detach fairly easily while I was fluffing them . I was able to reattach them.The package contains twelve bunches, which I found to be just enough for a 12 inch flower pot for my front porch. I wanted these flowers for my porch because it gets hit super hard with sun during the summer and I have a hard time keeping real flowers from burning up.I styled these flowers with an artificial pothos for some trailing vines and some artificial onion grass for some height and visual interest. I anchored them in dirt which I hope will keep them from blowing out.
