Feels like hard plastic, but looks reasonably authentic and natural.

I recently received this "12.5 Inch Artificial Aloe Plant - Large Faux Succulents (Unpotted), Realistic Fake Plants for Home Decor Indoor Outdoor (Green)" and it's a pretty realistic looking little aloe. Just don't touch it because it feels very much like hard plastic and not much like a natural succulent.This artificial aloe came so tightly packed that it took me longer to unwrap the plastic than seemed necessary. I struggled enough that I thought, "Is THIS what 'frustration-free packaging' is referring to?!" I don't think it actually is, by the way, but maybe it should be! XD Once I had the plant unwrapped, I spent a few minutes trying to "fluff" it as I always do with faux flowers/plants, but it made little difference. On the plus side, there isn't much TO "fluff" with this little plant. It's a fake succulent, so there just aren't any "leafy" bits to try and spring back to life. In all honesty, the item was wrapped so tightly that I was truly surprised to see it looking so natural (shape-wise) so quickly after unpacking it.This artificial plant has a "stem," but no "spike." I think this piece is intended for a pot, but I'll be placing it directly in the dirt/mulch in a fenced off section of the yard the mower can't access. The only "work" I have to do for this piece is to pre-drill a narrow hole for the stem to slip into. Once placed, barring being knocked over (or kicked), it should be pretty good to go. Since I don't reach down and "pet" it, I (almost) don't notice that it's fake. I do KNOW it's fake, of course, but I like that it doesn't alert me to its artificiality upon sight. Until I touch it, I never really consider whether or not it's alive.This artificial aloe was priced at $13.49 when I placed my order. It's not so realistic that I'd put it on my desk. From such a close proximity I think I'd be bothered by knowing it's artificial. But when placed in the ground in a part of the yard I mostly ignore, I think it's a good looking addition that keeps the space from feeling barren.Happy to recommend.

Finally, a Plant I Can't Kill

This fake aloe is the MVP of my home decor—looks convincingly real from across the room and doesn’t judge me for forgetting to water it (or, you know, not watering it ever). It’s the perfect size for a shelf or corner that needed a little green without the drama of actual plant care. No weird plasticky shine, and it doesn’t flop around like some cheaper faux plants. I plopped it into a pot I already had, added some rocks, and voilà—instant plant parent. Bonus: it hasn’t attracted a single gnat or cried for sunlight.
